December 22, 2008, Canton, MI In an effort to keep our children safe, Canton Fire Department will begin performing car seat safety checks for Canton residents. 

It has been estimated that four out of five car seats are used improperly.  By scheduling an appointment with one of the Fire Department's Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians, residents can learn the proper installation of their child's car seat, how to secure their child properly in the seat, and determine if the seat is appropriate for their child, all based on National Highway Traffic Safety Administration guidelines.
