October 9, 2008, Canton, MI Canton Fire Department had three command officers graduate from Fire Staff and Command School at Eastern Michigan University last week.  Captains Tom Kruger, Tom Lutkenhoff and Craig Poike participated in their graduation ceremony held in Ann Arbor.  Poike had served as class president and Lutkenhoff as class treasurer.   

The Fire Staff and Command School is held one 40-hour week per month, for 10 months.  This extensive training program is focused on management of fire agencies, planning, analysis and administration of fire personnel.  The school is a combination of both lectures and hands-on activities, with much of the training focused around group decision-making. 

Fire Staff and Command School is a mandatory requirement for all Canton Fire Department Command Officers.
