January 31, 2008, Canton, MI - At 4:02 p.m., Canton emergency dispatch received a 911 call of fire in a mobile home at 41275 Michigan Avenue in the 200 block. Fire crews arriving on the scene reported flames visible through out the home.

Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control however the home sustained extensive damage. Estimates are not readily available but the structure is believed to be almost a total loss with some of the contents salvageable.

A family of four was home at the time of the fire. Two children, ages approximately 4 and 8, were evaluated on the scene for possible smoke inhalation. They did not required further medical care. There were no other reported injuries. The Red Cross was contacted to assist with the family’s immediate needs and complex is hoping to place the family in another home.

Firefighters and police officers that comprise the fire investigation unit are on the scene determining the cause and origin of the fire.
