Homeowner charged with arson headed to trial
May 20, 2009, Canton, MI On May 8, 2009 a pre-trial was held in the 35th District Court for Rohanlall Nandalall, being charged with arson of his home on October 14, 2008.
During the pre-trial Canton Fire Departments Fire Investigation Team presented testimony for the prosecution. Fire Inspector Nichole Hamilton qualified as an Expert Witness in the case, based on her extensive training in the field of arson investigation.
Nandalall was bound over for trial in Wayne County Circuit Court. A date for the trial has not yet been set.

ORIGINAL RELEASE Homeowner charged with Arson of his home
January 23, 2009, Canton, MI Today Rohanlall Nandalall, 49, of Canton was arraigned in 35th District Court on charges stemming from a fire on October 14, 2008, at his house located on the 1600 block of Walnut Ridge in Canton.
Nandalall is being charged with Arson House, a 20-year felony; and Arson Insured Property, a 10-year felony. Firefighters responded to the house after receiving a 911 call from a neighbor reporting the fire. Cantons Fire Investigation Unit consisting of police officers and firefighters was called in to investigate, eventually resulting in the current charges being filed against the homeowner.
Nandalalls bond was set at $10,000-personal by Judge James Plakas. His preliminary exam is scheduled for February 6, 2009 at 35th District Court in Plymouth.
