Canton ranks as safest community in metro area
November 30 2009, Canton, MI – Last week CQ Press released its annual City Crime Rankings publication listing Canton as the 22nd safest community in the country, and the safest community in Michigan. The rankings include 393 cities of at least 75,000 residents that reported crime data to the FBI for the 2008 calendar year. The crime rankings were calculated using six crime categories: murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, and motor vehicle theft. These categories have been used for determining city crime rate ratings since 1999. This annual publication previously published by Morgan Quitno Corporation was published for the first time this year by CQ Press.
