Jewel thief charged with Larceny
January 29, 2010, Canton, MI – Today 29-year old Jennifer Christy Clemente, of Farmington Hills, was arraigned in 35th District Court on one count of Larceny by Conversion, $1,000 or more but less than $20,000; a five-year felony. Clemente was arrested in a department store in Taylor, Michigan, after being recognized from a surveillance photo being circulated by the Canton Police Department. Clemente is expected to face similar charges in several area communities. Clemente was issued a $10,000 (10%) cash bond for the Canton charge, and has a preliminary exam date of February 12, 2010, at 35th District Court in Plymouth. ### Original Release - Police ask for help in identifying a couple suspected of theft January 5, 2010, Canton, MI – The Canton Police Department has obtained surveillance video photos of two suspects believed to have stolen a pair of 1-carat diamond earrings from a local retailer in Canton. The incident occurred at JC Penney on Ford Road, in Canton, on December 26, 2009 at approximately 3:30 p.m. The suspects are described as: a white male, approximately 30 years old, 5’11", 190 pounds, with red/auburn hair; and a white female, approximately 30 years old, 5’7", well-groomed, with long brown hair. The suspects were seen walking in together, receiving service from a sales clerk at the jewelry counter, and then leaving the store together. ###
