Canton Exchange Club Honors Fallen Police Officer Gordon "Lew" Stevens
Today in a dedication ceremony, members of the Canton Exchange Club presented two wall plaques to the Canton Police Department, in honor of fallen officer Gordon "Lew" Stevens. Officer Stevens was killed in a car accident while on duty July 23, 2003.
The wall plaques are the National Exchange Club's highest award that can be given to a police officer or firefighter for injuries sustained in the line of duty. These are the same plaques that were given by the National Exchange Club to honor public safety personnel injured or killed on 9/11 in New York and Washington D.C.
The Canton Police Department takes pride in hanging the plaques for all to see. They will serve as a reminder of the great man Canton lost while he served his community.
