Canton Public Safety Department Survey Update
For Immediate Release 06-06-2006
May 31 marked the last day for residents to return their 2006 Public Safety Community Surveys. The surveys, designed to give Canton residents an opportunity to rate the services of the police and fire departments, were mailed out during the month of April to a random sample of residents in the community.
During the month of June survey responses will be tabulated. Once the final results have been determined, department officials will compare the survey results with the benchmark results established during a similar survey conducted in 2000. Final survey results will be published in Canton’s FOCUS newsletter, through local media and on the department's web site at www.canton-mi.org.

ORIGINAL RELEASE 04-12-06
During the month of April, Canton Public Safety Department will be mailing out surveys to a random sample of residents in Canton. The survey is designed to give Canton residents an opportunity to rate the services of the police and fire departments. The survey also asks residents for their opinion as to which areas they feel are most important for police to concentrate their efforts.
The survey contains 12 questions and asks for some basic demographic information. The randomly selected residents will have 30 days to fill out the survey and return it in the postage paid envelope included in the mailing.
Public Safety officials will tabulate the results and compare them to the benchmarks established after a similar survey conducted in 2000. A plan of action will be developed from their findings, and any issues arising from the survey will be addressed.
Survey results will be published in the Canton FOCUS newsletter, through the local media, and on the department's web site atwww.canton-mi.org/publicsafety.
