The Canton Fire Department recently hired Brian Fitzgerald as a firefighter/paramedic to bring the department up to a full staffing level.

Fitzgerald, a 28-year old Canton resident completed his firefighter training and paramedic license program at Lansing Community College in May of 2005. Before joining the department Fitzgerald worked as a paramedic for Mercy Ambulance in Lansing, and as a part-time firefighter/paramedic for Looking Glass Fire Department.

Candidates for the Canton Fire Department go through a rigorous testing process that includes both written and physical agility tests, oral board, medical and psychological examinations and an extensive background check. To find out more about opportunities at the department visit www.canton-mi.org.
