Canton Fire Department Promotes Eight Firefighters

The Canton Fire Department has promoted eight firefighters this month, two to the rank of captain and six to the rank of lieutenant. All of these officers began their career with Canton Fire Department as a cadet prior to becoming a firefighter/EMT.
- Captain Thomas Davison, age 49, is a 29-year veteran of the department. He has earned several licenses and certifications throughout his career including Fire Officer I, II & III and his Emergency Medical Technician license. Davison was promoted to the rank of lieutenant in 2005, and will graduate from Fire Staff and Command school at Eastern Michigan University during the month of January. Tom Davison is married, has two daughters and his first grandchild on the way.
- Captain John Hunter, age 46, is a 26-year veteran of the department. He has earned several licenses and certifications throughout his career including his paramedic license and Fire Officer I, II and III. Hunter was promoted to the rank of lieutenant in 2005, and will graduate from Fire Staff and Command school at Eastern Michigan University in January. John Hunter is married, has three children and one grandchild.
Lieutenant Robert Glenn, age 42, is a 21-year veteran of the department. He received his paramedic license in 1996, and has completed Fire Officer I, II & III. Rob Glenn is married and has five children ages 20, 20, 18, 17 and 14.
- Lieutenant Michael Caruso, age 43, is a 19-year veteran of the department. He received his paramedic license in 1998, and has completed Fire Officer I & II. Mike Caruso is married and has three daughters ages 16, 15 and 11.
- Lieutenant Craig Poike, age 44, is an 18-year veteran of the department. He received his paramedic license in 1998, and has completed Fire Officer I & II. Craig Poike is married and has two children ages 17 and 15.
Lieutenant Thomas Kruger, age 43, is an 18-year veteran of the department. He received his paramedic license in 1998, and has completed Fire Officer I & II. Tom Kruger is married and has a 16-month old daughter.
- Lieutenant Thomas Lutkenhoff, age 43, is an 18-year veteran of the department. He received his paramedic license in 1998, and has completed Fire Officer I & II. Tom Lutkenhoff is married and has three children ages 11, 8 and 6.
- Lieutenant Paul Pavloff, age 50, is a 17-year veteran of the department. He received his paramedic license in 1998, and has completed Fire Officer I, II & III. Paul Pavloff is married and has two children.
These promotions were made to fill vacancies created by retirement. The fire department will continue to hire additional firefighters over the next several months to fully staff the department.
