Suspects arraigned for armed robbery
December 13, 2007, Canton – MI – Yesterday Michael Paul Sosa, age 21, and John Lewis Calloway, III, age 23, both of Belleville, were arraigned in 35th District Court for the armed robbery of a 7-11/Citgo Gas Station on Tuesday.
Both are being charged with Armed Robbery, a felony punishable by life or any number of years in prison; Felon in Possession of a Firearm, a five-year felony; and Felony Firearm, a two-year felony.
In addition, Sosa is being charged with Malicious Destruction of Police Property, a four-year felony; Resisting and Obstruction a Police Officer, a two-year felony; and Habitual Offender II, which will enhance his sentence to 1.5 times the sentence amount.
Calloway is also being charged with Driving on a Suspended or Revoked License, a misdemeanor, and Habitual III, which will enhance his sentence to 2 times the sentence amount.
Magistrate Eric Colthurst issued Sosa and Calloway each a $100,000 cash bond. They are scheduled for their preliminary exam on December 21, 2007, at 35th District Court in Plymouth.

December 11, 2007, Canton, MI – Two suspects were arrested early this morning for an armed robbery that occurred at 7-11/Citgo Gas Station on Michigan Avenue, in Canton. At approximately 1:40 a.m., a suspect entered the store and approached the clerk for cash, firing a shot into the ceiling with a .22 rifle. The suspect left in a vehicle being driven by an accomplice.
A Canton police officer spotted a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s vehicle and performed a traffic stop. The .22 rifle and stolen cash were recovered. Police expect to arraign the suspects on Wednesday in 35th District Court. Charges and identity of the suspects will be released at that time.
Suspects are also expected to be charged for a similar robbery occurring the same night in Van Buren.
