Man arraigned for assaulting woman in Target store

Joseph Lloyd Smith, 46 of Inkster, was arriagned today on charges stemming from the assault of a female shopper in Target last month. Smith was identified after store surveillence video was broadcast on local news, and was later arrested in Inkster by officer from the Western-Wayne CRT unit.
Smith is being charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct IV, a two-year misdemeanor, along with Habitual Offender 4th, a felony punishible by up to 15 years; and Sexually Deliquent Person, a felony punishible from one day up to one year in prison. Judge Ronald Lowe of the 35th District Court ordered Smith a $100,000 cash bond and was given a preliminary exam date of July 20, at 35th District Court in Plymouth.
