September 17, 2007, Canton, MI – Former Plymouth Christian Academy teacher Stephanie Ann Stein, 31 of Canton, was arraigned in 35th District court today on charges stemming from a relationship with a 15-year old student she befriended during this past school year.  Stein resigned from her teaching position in June, and during the summer her relationship with the 15-year old escalated to one of a physical nature.

Stein is being charged with two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct 3rd Degree, each a 15-year felony; 1 count of Using the Internet to Communicate with a Minor to Commit a Crime, a 4-year felony; and 1 count of Distributing Obscene Material of a Sexual Nature to a Minor, a 2-year felony. 

Judge Michael Gerou issued a $50,000 personal bond with conditions of no contact with the victim, and set the preliminary exam date for September 28, 2007 in 35th District Court, 660 Plymouth Road, in Plymouth.
