Canton woman faces charges for impersonating deceased roommate

On Friday, May 25, Christina Nicole Tracy, age 28, was arrested in Port Huron on an outstanding felony warrant. Tracy is being charged with five counts of identity theft and five counts of larceny after impersonating her dead roommate, Ashley Piece, and requesting cash from Pierce’s father.
Tracy was arraigned by Out-County Court on May 26, and was given a $50,000 cash bond. Tracy is currently being held in Wayne County Jail. Her preliminary exam is scheduled for Friday, June 8, in 35th District Court.

The results of the autopsy performed by the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office are listed as pending. The victim has been identified as Ashley Ann Pierce 19 years old from Canton. Information obtained from the medical examiner's office, family members of the victim and witnesses indicate that drugs may have played a role in her death.
Additional investigation is being conducted to determine if the roommate benefited financially by Ashley's death. Once the investigation is completed it will be turned over to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office for review.
ORIGINAL RELEASE: 03/07/07
On 03/07/2007 the Canton Police responded to the 41000 block of Heathmore on an anonymous report of a body inside the apartment. The anonymous caller also stated that the body had been inside the apartment for the past 3 weeks while the lease holder continued to live within.
Canton police investigated and discovered what appeared to be a young female deceased inside the apartment. The 28 year old lease holder was present in the apartment at the time and brought to the station for questioning.
A search warrant was obtained and executed at the apartment and the scene is being processed by Canton’s evidence tech. unit. The victim will be transported to the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Officer and autopsy will be conducted to determine cause of death...
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The case continues to be investigated at this time.
