Victim's name released in fatal crash
November 5, 2007, Canton, MI – The victim’s name has been released. Dwane Eric Carner, 36, of Canton was killed on Friday, November 2, 2007, in a car vs. bicycle accident on Ford Road in Canton. The crash remains under investigation by the Canton Police Department’s Accident Investigation Unit.

November 3, 2007, Canton, MI - On Friday November 2nd 2007 at approximately 11:00 p.m. Canton police and fire responded to a reported injury accident on westbound Ford rd east of I-275.
Officers arriving on scene discovered a car-bicycle accident. The initial investigation indicates that the bicyclist, a 36 year old resident from Canton, had just left a restaurant located on the south side of Ford rd. The bicyclist was riding his bike north across Ford traveling towards the apartment complex where he lives. A car traveling east on Ford struck the bicyclist throwing him into the center turn lane. The driver of the vehicle pulled over and called 911.
Canton fire responded to the scene and administered emergency medical treatment. The bicyclist was transported to St Joe’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The victim’s identity is being withheld until next of kin can be notified.
The case remains under investigation by the Canton Police Accident Investigation Unit.
