Canton Fire Department’s Fire Prevention Unit will give a residential fire sprinkler head demonstration on Saturday, June 16, during Liberty Fest. Two furnished, miniature rooms will be constructed side-by-side, one with a sprinkler head and one without. A controlled fire will be started by firefighters to demonstrate how fast fire spreads, and how effective it is to have a sprinkler system installed. The objective of the demonstration is to bring awareness to the community on the danger of fire, as well as to show the importance of sprinkler systems in residences.

The demonstration will be held behind the Canton Public Library on Veterans’s Way, just south of Civic Center Drive. The event is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m., and should last approximately 10 minutes. Materials for the miniature rooms have been donated by various organizations in the community. A complete list of contributors will be posted at the site.
