Three officers graduate from Fire Staff and Command School
October 29, 2007, Canton, MI – Three command officers from Canton Fire Department recently graduated from Fire Staff and Command School at Eastern Michigan University. Captain Mike Caruso, Captain Tim Dunn and Captain Rob Glenn all participated in their graduation ceremony held last Friday evening at the Summit on the Park in Canton. Also in attendance was Fire Chief Michael Rorabacher and guest speaker Executive Director of Public Safety and Operations, John R. Santomauro.
The Fire Staff and Command School is held one 40-hour week per month, for 10 months. This extensive training program is focused on management of fire agencies, planning, analysis and administration of fire personnel. The school is a combination of both lectures and hands-on activities, with much of the training focused around group decision-making.
Fire Staff and Command School is mandatory for all Canton Fire Department Command Officers, and can be applied toward their 80-hours of leadership training required every year.
