Public Safety hosts two informative seminars in October
September 27, 2007, Canton, MI - Canton Police Department and Canton Leisure Services are partnering together to present their fourth Positive Parenting Seminar on Monday, October 15, 2007, from 6-7:30 p.m., at Canton’s Summit on the Park.
This fourth in a series of informative parenting seminars will feature a guest speaker from Growth Works, a local non-profit agency working with youths and their families. Topics to be discusses include peer pressure, conflict resolution and communicating with your teen. Canton Police Community Relations Coordinator Sergeant Deb Newsome will also update parents on some teen-trends going on the community, parents may not be aware of.
Parents attending the presentation are also invited to bring their children to enjoy activities and Summit facilities free of charge. Child care will be provided in the following manner: Ages 3 & under will be supervised in the Kids Corner; ages 4-6 may swim as long as an older sibling is present (otherwise, an alternative activity will be provided) and ages 7 & up are welcome to swim. Ages and activity intentions will be asked upon registration. Parents are invited to join their kids afterward for some family fun!
The seminar is free of charge, but seating is limited. Canton residents interested in attending should stop by or call the Summit front desk at 734/394-5460, by October 10 for reservations.
September 27, 2007, Canton, MI - Canton Public Safety and the Senior Safety Coalition present their annual Seniors Safe, Sound & Secure Seminar scheduled for Wednesday, October 17, 2007, from Noon – 3:00 p.m., at Canton’s Summit on the Park. This year a panel of experts will discuss and answer questions about scams, financial exploitation and elder abuse. Senior citizens will learn strategies and receive useful resources to protect themselves and their assets.
Lunch with dessert is being provided compliments of Waltonwood at Cherry Hill, Waltonwood at Carriage Park, and Assisted Moving. Everyone attending will also receive a packet from Canton Public Safety.
