Three of Canton Fire Department's command officers graduate EMUs Fire Staff and Command program

For Release: January 23, 2007

Last week Fire Captain Thomas Davison, Captain John Hunter and Lieutenant David Champagne graduated from Eastern Michigan University's Fire Staff and Command School class No. 8.

These officers completed the class that is a competence based intensive undergraduate and graduate level study program consisting of 350 hours of classroom instruction for which they prepared papers and projects. The course takes the fire officer beyond traditional operational methods and exposes them to conceptual thinking and problem solving.

It should be noted that Lieutenant Champagne was the recipient of the Class Leadership Award. This award is presented by classmates to the individual that demonstrates outstanding leadership qualities during the course of the class.
