Canton Public Safety has obtained a grant for $175,000 through the 2005 Urban Area Security Initiative. Funds from this grant will be used to update and augment Canton's Emergency Operations Center and its related components. Preliminary plans call for additional computers and phone lines for the Emergency Operations Center. Additional portable radios, enhanced Public Safety building security and mobile command updates are also being planned.

According to Fire Chief Michael Rorabacher, "This grant will allow us to significantly enhance our emergency preparedness capabilities in Canton."
