The Canton Fire Department recently hired Duane Lowe as a full-time firefighter / paramedic for the department.

Lowe, age 28, completed his firefighter training at Oakland Community College in 1999 and his paramedic training at Baker College in 2001. Prior to joining the department, he worked at a paramedic for Livingston County EMS and as a firefighter for Rochester Hills Fire Department.

Candidates for the Canton Fire Department go through a rigorous testing process that includes both written and physical agility tests, oral board, medical and psychological examinations and an extensive background check.
