"Shop with a Cop" program in Canton

December 13, Canton, MI - Canton Police Department, Canton Leisure Services and Wal-Mart have partnered together to bring the holiday “Shop with a Cop” program to Canton this year.  Twenty-five children ages 11-14 have been chosen by Leisure Services to participate at noon, this Saturday, December 15, at the Wal-Mart store located at 39500 Ford Road in Canton.  Children will receive a $100 gift card to shop for themselves and members of their family, while accompanied by a Canton police officer.

“These 25 kids were chosen to participate in this program based on their involvement with the B.L.O.C.K. Youth & Teen Center,” said Canton Recreation Coordinator Jon LaFever.  “They have maintained good study habits, grades, and positive behavior in order to attend.  Their participation in the “Shop with a Cop” program is a reward for their efforts and an incentive for the future,” he adds.

The event is sponsored by Pepsi and Wal-Mart.  For more information on the B.L.O.C.K. Youth & Teen Center, call 734/398-5570.
