The department has a sergeant assigned to the position of Crime Analyst/Community Relations Officer. This unique position serves two purposes:

The sergeant studies crime data for patterns and trends, and analyzes accident data to determine which Canton intersections have the most crashes and why. With this information, the crime analyst will help direct patrol activities to specifically target crime and traffic problem areas.

The sergeant also spends many hours on crime prevention education and awareness. This is accomplished through working with community groups such as senior citizens, homeowner associations and local businesses.

The crime prevention unit is also providing safety tips on the Web. If you have questions about anything you read, or on something you don't see, please let us know.
