The department's Evidence Technician Unit consists of police officers who are assigned to the Patrol Division. The mission of the unit is to collect and process evidence from crime scenes as well as give court testimony on criminal cases.

Evidence is processed in the department's lab and includes equipment used to obtain fingerprint evidence, chemicals, and light sources. Throughout the year, evidence technicians attend on-going training to keep them up-to-date in the latest methods and technologies in the field of evidence collection.
