Public Safety's Records Bureau is responsible for data entry of statistical information, generating statistical report, processing applications for handgun and concealed weapon permits, and providing report copies to the general public.

Copies of accident reports can be obtained by anyone. A $4.00 check can be mailed in and report will be mailed back to you. |

Apply between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Canton residents only with valid identification. Permits are valid for 10 days. Guns are brought back for inspection/registration on Monday through Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. |

| Concealed Pistol License Permits (CPL) |

Applications for CPL's are processed by the Wayne County Sheriff's Department and are available on line thru their link: CPL Permit or at the Canton Police Deparment's Records Bureau. |
The Records Bureau also processes all freedom of information requests, discovery orders and subpoenas for records. These documents are accepted at the Records Bureau counter Monday - Friday, from 8:30 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. All requests will be processed in a timely manner, in accordance with the law.
