The Canton Department of Public Safety and the Plymouth-Canton School District are committed to providing a safe learning environment for all students and faculty at the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park. Two School Resource Officers (SROs) are assigned on a full-time basis to the high school campus.
The School Resource Officers are stationed between Canton, Plymouth, and Salem High Schools. SROs are in the high schools to promote positive relationships and communication between the police, students, parents, and educators. The SROs are also at the high schools to enhance the level of policing on campus.
The two officers follow the Canton Police Department's philosophy of Community Policing while on campus. Officers handle all criminal complaints at Canton, Plymouth, and Salem High Schools and refer more serious crimes to the detective bureau. Officers spend time in classrooms as guest speakers on crime prevention and other topics. Mentoring students is also another large part of the officers' activities.
